Delta Zeta's national Philanthropy is speech and hearing. We have national service partnerships with the Starkey Hearing Foundation and Gallaudet niversity. Our national service project is the Painted Turtle Camp. The Pi Phi Chapter of Delta Zeta recognizes the importance of service and has donated over 600 hours since our installation one year ago.
Starkey Hearing Foundation: "In 2006, Delta Zeta’s National Convention voted to make Starkey Hearing Foundation a philanthropic partner with Delta Zeta for the cause of speech and hearing. Starkey Hearing Foundation uses hearing as a vehicle to reflect caring and change lives around the world. As a member of Clinton Global Initiative, Starkey Hearing Foundation has pledged to provide more than one million hearing aids to people in need this decade and currently gives more than 175,000 hearing aids annually."
Gallaudet University: "For more than 150 years, Gallaudet University has led advances in education of deaf and hard of hearing students and deaf rights worldwide. Today, students from across the United States and more than 25 countries—diverse in perspective, backgrounds, interests and communication styles—form an exciting learning community as they prepare for dynamic careers and a lifetime of growth."
The Painted Turtle Camp: "The Painted Turtle seeks to reach beyond illness, to inspire children with life-threatening diseases to become their greater selves. It is our mission to provide a year-round, life-changing environment for these children and their families – one that allows children to participate in an authentic camp experience by supporting their medical needs and offers their families care, education, and respite."
